Sending and Supporting Missionaries Around the World
We know from Acts 1:8 that we are to be witnesses, "in Jerusalem, and in Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." That's why it is absolutely crucial that we send and support Missionaries as a church. For over 50 years, missions have been a landmark of Bellmead Calvary Baptist Church. We are currently supporting 54 missionaries here and abroad. For a full listing of our missionaries click here.
Supporting Dr. Rick Martin - A Word From Pastor McKelroy
For the past few years I have traveled to the Philippines with adults and teens to participate in Dr. Rick Martin’s ministry in Iloilo City. We have seen thousands saved, preached in public schools, preached at local pastor’s fellowships, preached in various churches, participated in backyard Bible clubs, and helped construct a church building in Bacolod City. In all of this we have been challenged and awed by Dr. Martin’s amazing work and effectiveness in reaching souls for Christ. In the past, we have helped his graduates build buildings, as many other Independent Baptist Churches in the USA have done.
The Lord laid it upon my heart to build Dr. Martin a building. He has one remaining spot on his church property to build a permanent structure. He also has a need for classrooms for Iloilo Baptist College and dormitory space. This will be a four story modern structure that is just over 4000 square feet. The total cost for this building will be about $100,000. The plans are to construct this building in 2012.
I do not know of a more effective use of our missions’ dollars than to help Dr. Martin with a building for Iloilo Baptist College. This one ministry has started over 1200 churches! 15 of his graduates have started their own Bible colleges; from this second generation 2 additional colleges have been started. Furthermore, Dr. Martin’s ministries are currently 1068 laymen training at 346 different institutes. To help one of those graduates build a building is a great work, but to help the producer of those graduates produce more is an even greater work!
Would you consider helping Dr. Martin with this building? If just 10 churches would commit to give $10,000 by January 2012 we could accomplish this task. If you cannot commit to $10,000, would you consider putting Dr. Martin’s building project in your mission budget for one yearat $100 per month? If 100 churches that know and love Dr. Martin will commit to just $100 a month for 10 months we could reach our $100,000 goal by January 2012.
